A two-month cruise circling Australia is being halted following the fatal incident of an elderly woman who was stranded by the vessel on a isolated coastal location.

The elderly woman had been hiking on the remote island with other travelers from the cruise ship, but separated from the group for a break. The liner departed without her and came back later that day after the personnel realised the passenger was not present.

A major search operation located her person the next day.

Officials are looking into the incident, in coordination with investigators and the medical examiner.

Chief Executive of the cruise operator said that passengers and crew on the Coral Adventurer were notified that the remainder of the cruise had been cancelled due to the "unfortunate death and previous mechanical issues".

Through an announcement, he further stated that guests would be provided a total repayment, and said the operator was working "to coordinate the return journeys of the individuals via chartered flights".

Officials also published an revised communication, and said they had "delivered a order to the Commander" preventing any new passengers from getting on the liner.

The official said that they would inspect the ship in the Australian city upon its return.

The vessel initially left Cairns on October 24th, and was merely two days into the journey at the point of the senior passenger's demise. The remote island was the initial destination on the itinerary.

The child of the victim said that her loved ones was "stunned and saddened that the liner left Lizard Island after an organised tour without my parent".

Through her comments, she characterized her parent as an "vigorous octogenarian" who was a participant of a walking organization.

"According to scant information we have been provided, it appears that there was a breakdown of attention and ordinary reasoning," she said.

She continued that she wished the examination would be able to identify what "the organization should have done that might have protected Mother's being".

"We understand from the authorities that it was a exceptionally warm period, and mother fell ill on the uphill trek," she explained.

"Officials suggested her to head down, unescorted. Then the ship sailed away, apparently without performing a headcount.
